Certification as a Birth Doula or Postpartum Doula?

Many people ask if the training is for birth doula or postpartum doula certification and the simple answer is that it will train you in both. You will have the power to choose which one you'd like to be based on what fits for your life. So, in a sense, you are getting two trainings in one. If you are in the middle of raising small children or have a full time job that isn't very flexible, you may need to have your doula life more structured, so being a postpartum doula might be the right answer for you.  If you have more available time to focus on pregnancy and being on-call for births, you can spend more time working as a birth doula.

 

There is freedom and flexibility in this work...choose where your passion lies and what works best for you and your family.

It teaches all about pregnancy, labor, delivery and postpartum, but also nutrition, aromatherapy, and natural remedies and oh! so much more! We don't just teach you how to be a doula but how to get your name out to your community, how to interview, and how to market your business!

 

The Doula Alliance training fully teaches you the business aspect of starting and running a your own successful business as a professional labor support person.  We answer the, "I took the training, now what?" question! We also teach you how to create contracts, keep track of your clients, and get your foot in the door with hospitals and birth centers.   

 

We also give you all business documents at NO added cost!! And you have permission to change them and make them your own.

 

After you go through the training we want to keep in touch with you, mentor you, and allow you a space where you can find comfort and support.  We also teach you how to create or get plugged into a good support system in your community; which will give you an opportunity for birth shadowing, continued education, and place to debrief after a birth. 

 

We support new doulas with as much love and care as we do with the new mothers we work with.
